Along with my years of experience I hold multiple certifications from the American Aerobic Association International / International Sports Medicine Association (AAAI/ISMA) and the Aerobic and Fitness Association of America (AFAA).

I take an energetic, enthusiastic, and balanced approach to life and extend that same energy, enthusiasm, and balance to helping others attain their personal and fitness goals.

Zumba is one of the hottest and exhilarating fitness crazes in the country. Dance experience is NOT necessary but the ability to giggle and wiggle is!

  • I've been training and competing in events for the last 15 years. I did my first big event in 1995, it was a duathalon, and I rode it on my mountain bike. I had two goals: one to finish and the second to not be last. I didn't really train, but I finished, and I wasn't last. Since then I've competed in events from Adventure races to Ultra marathons. With a true passion for physical fitness, I believe that achieving your goals can enhance the rest of your life.

Using HeartZones training techniques, I personally trained the owner of Personal Best Fitness Center to ride the Triple ByPass, 120 miles. In 3.5 months, he went from never having been on a bike for more than an hour to completing a 9.5 hour bike ride.
Steve Oberg, Fitness Instructor - Lakewood
  • I have been a fitness instructor since 1996. My fitness resume includes teaching indoor cycling at 8 facilities in the past 9 years. Currently, I teach at three clubs, My Personal Best my favorite. I enjoy teaching indoor cycling because almost anyone can do this. In the same class, it is possible to have an elite cyclist that races every weekend, to someone who has never exercised in their life. While these two individuals can be on two ends of the spectrum of fitness, I can ensure that both of them get a good workout and feel good about at the end of the class. I have raced bikes for 17 years and have a strong understanding of fitting a person on the indoor bikes to ensure the most comfort. My certifications include Johnny G, Reebok cycling, and HeartZones Blue jersey. Give one of my classes a try, be sure to let me know if you are new to the workout!
Sarah Opstad, Certified Personal Trainer

Hi, I'm Sarah Opstad and I love dancing and Zumba. The reason is simple: Every class feels like a party! Come join me and you'll see what I mean. Even if you don't know how to dance, just move and sway your body to the rhythm and follow my lead. It's easy, come try it. I guarantee you will have a blast!

Music and Dance have always been a huge part of my life. As a child my mother was an Arthur Murray dance instructor which inspired me to further pursue my love for theater and the arts. I attended California State University, Fullerton, where I studied musical theatre and dance with emphasis in ballet, tap and Jazz. In the years since I have taken classes from Salsa to swing and most recently hip hop. That's why I love Zumba, all of my favorite dance styles rolled into one big workout Dance Party!

Dance has also healed my body and soul. At 21 I was totally paralyzed and had to learn to Disco Dance again. Shaking it really helped me on my road to recovery and now constant maintenance of my core strength to support my back. It's Bionic! My back is fused at L-2 with titanium screws and rods. So those of you nursing an injury are in good company, there will always be modifications but hopefully seeing my moves will motivate you to the next level.

I moved from central California to Colorado in 2001. My yoga practice began almost twenty years ago when I took it as an elective in college. When I am not doing yoga, telemark skiing, or mountain biking, I teach history at Front Range Community College.
